No more texting while driving in Michigan

Michigan has joined 14 other states banning texting while driving.  Anyone caught texting while driving will get a $100 fine, second offense is $200.  According to the new law officers have the right to take a look at your phone but cannot confiscate it.  You can be on the highway or at a stop light you can still get ticketed.  The new law doesn’t cover talking on your phone while driving, so no need to get that Bluetooth speaker or headset just yet Michiganders.

I know seeing someone texting while driving bugs the heck out of me.  I can remember one instance I was leaving a gas station and I noticed someone texting while pumping gas and then subsequently leaving the gas station.  As I recall that person almost hit three cars and nearly ran a red light.  Comment your thoughts on the new Michigan law.
