So it appears that a good source for Engadget is saying that the Droid 2 will actually release ahead of time. Originally slated to release on August 23rd, it now appears that it will drop August of 12th. Which is odd since it appears the marketing campaign is still slated to start on the originally rumored date. Speaking of marketing, they are dubbing this phone the D2 and in line with the Star Wars roots of Droid there will be an R2-D2 version of the phone. What does that entail? Well apparently it just means they’re putting a picture of R2 on the back of the phone. Woot?! Finally it looks like it will be released with Android 2.2 (awesome) with Moto Blur (lame).
Finally, is the boot loader on this device locked too?
